Y12SR Peer Support Guide Certification Training Overview

Become a Certified Y12SR Peer Support Guide

The Y12SR Peer Support Guide Certification is a 36-hour immersive training designed to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) meetings in your community.

This unique, trauma-informed program blends the ancient wisdom of yoga, the structure of 12-step recovery, and the latest insights from neuroscience and healing-centered engagement. Whether you’re seeking to deepen your own recovery journey or integrate Y12SR into the work you already do, as a yoga teacher, therapist, peer support specialist, or community leader, this training offers a path to meaningful, embodied service.

Two-Part Training Structure

The full certification is divided into two units, each with separate registration and payment. The total cost for both units is $850, before any discounts or scholarships.

Each part is offered separately because some participants choose to complete only Step One for their own healing and personal development, without pursuing certification.

Step One: Understanding Unit (Self-Paced Online)

Step One lays the foundation. You’ll explore the root causes of addiction and disordered behaviors through a trauma-informed lens, examining how these patterns live in the body and how yoga and 12-step recovery can support sustainable transformation.

📚 Topics include:

  • The biology and psychology of addiction

  • The 12-step model

  • Yoga philosophy and practice

  • Somatic and trauma-informed approaches to recovery

🖥️ Approx. 21 hours of online content
💬 Optional live “office hours” with instructors

Step Two: Application Unit (Live Online or In-Person)

Once you complete Step One, you're eligible to register for Step Two: a dynamic, live weekend session where you’ll put your learning into practice. This unit focuses on how to design and facilitate Y12SR meetings, integrate themed practices, and hold space for others on the path of recovery.

🧘🏽 Hands-on facilitation experience
🗣️ Peer-to-peer learning and mentorship
🗓️ Approx. 15 hours of live training (over one weekend)
